Travis Chick made his major league debut with the Seattle Mariners on September 13, 2006. Chick worked three scoreless innings against the Toronto Blue Jays, giving up four hits, a walk and striking out one. He would appear in three games for the Mariners that season. Chick split the 2008 season between Double-A West Tennessee of the Southern League and Triple-A Tacoma of the Pacific Coast League, posting a combined 3.68 ERA across 32 games, including 16 starts.

Chick was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 14th round of the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft. In 2004, he was traded to the San Diego Padres, who subsequently traded Chick and Justin Germano to the Cincinnati Reds for Joe Randa on July 23, 2005. On July 6, 2006, he was again traded, this time to the Seattle Mariners for pitcher Eddie Guardado and cash considerations.

The Texas native is known for his confidence, intensity and aggressive attitude on the mound.  With a low-90s fastball, tilting slider and solid changeup, Chick is able to keep hitters off-balance and work deep into games.
